Venom 3 Release Date 2024: Tom Hardy is set to reprise his role as gruff reporter turned gruffer alien symbiote creature Venom in the as-yet-untitled Venom 3. While still in its early stages of production, the threequel fits into a wider overall plan from Sony’s own spin-off Spider-Man universe.

Reuben Fleischer’s original Venom launched this alternate storyline in 2018, then Andy Serkis’ Let There Be Carnage sequel came out in 2021, and Daniel Espinosa’s Morbius came out in 2022. Looking ahead, Sony has even more comic book action in store, with its upcoming shift into heroics with Madame Web in February 2024 and the Aaron Taylor Johnson-fronted Kraven the Hunter set to pounce in late August.

Landing in between these two movies is a third Venom outing, but what will it entail? Read on to discover everything we know so far about Venom 3.

Venom 3 Release Date

Venom 3 will be swinging into American cinemas on Friday, July 11, 2024, a whole three months earlier than its originally planned release date of October 2024. While currently unconfirmed, it’s a safe bet that UK cinemagoers can watch Venom 3 on the same July release date too. However, all this could be set to change in the wake of the WGA/SAG AFTRA strikes in Hollywood. If they wrap up later than planned, then poor old Venom might be late for his big July premiere.

Venom 3 Cast and Crew

Juno Temple in Ted Lasso (Apple TV+) As previously mentioned, Hardy will once again slip into the slimy symbiote suit to play (or at least voice) Venom and his human counterpart, Eddie Brock. After co-writing part one and writing the entirety of part two, screenwriter-turned-filmmaker Kelly Marcel will direct him in Venom 3.

According to reports, Marcel and Hardy penned the script for Venom 3 together. In addition to Hardy returning, we also know that Ted Lasso star Juno Temple will be joining the franchise in a leading role, which is currently being kept under wraps. Meanwhile, Doctor Strange’s Mordo Chiwetel Ejiofor will also star, but it’s unclear what his role will entail. Will his presence mark another step closer to Marvel’s cinematic universe, or will Ejiofor play someone entirely new? Only time will tell. Likewise, it’s still unknown as to whether Tom Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man may play a part in Venom 3 following his crossover tease at the end of the last movie.

Venom 3 Plot

For those unfamiliar with the franchise, let us fill you in on what you’ve missed. Hardy’s Brock is an investigative journalist who stumbles upon a gooey sentient alien that uses him as its ‘host’ and imbues him with violent, superhuman abilities and an unquenchable hunger for bad guys. Fleischer’s first film set up the world, introducing us to Brock and his ex-fiancée Anne Weying, played by Michelle Williams, and Riz Ahmed’s villainous Carlton Drake, AKA Riot, a rival symbiote hellbent on destroying Earth.

In Serkis’ sequel, Sony takes a step closer to Marvel’s mainline Spider-Man universe by introducing us to Woody Harrelson’s Cleetus Kasady, better known to comic fans as the cult-favorite character Carnage. Serkis also dips the franchise’s toes into the multiverse playground, setting things up nicely for a potential future crossover with Holland’s Peter Parker and the mainline MCU’s current Spider-Man.

Sadly, that’s all the Venom knowledge we have at the moment. When it comes to the Untitled Venom: Let There Be Carnage sequel, information about what it may have in store is being kept close to the character’s gooey chest. That said, we do know that this will be Hardy’s final stint in the symbiote suit having previously called Venom 3 the character’s “last dance” via a gif posted to his Instagram account. Filming for the movie began in late June 2023 but was forced to halt shortly after thanks to the ongoing Hollywood strikes. It’s currently waiting to start up once more.
