COVID-19 cases in Indian states have increased again in December 2023

As of December 27, 2023, Indian states have reported a large number of active coronavirus (COVID-19) cases totaling in the thousands.

As per the Union Health Ministry, the country recorded a total of 116 new cases of COVID in the past 24 hours. In Karnataka, three deaths were reported due to the infection.

Currently, Delhi is witnessing an average of three to four daily COVID-19 cases, according to Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj.

Sources indicate that until December 27, 2023, the country reported a total of 69 cases of the JN.1 COVID-19 variant.

Maharashtra detected nine cases, Karnataka detected eight cases, Kerala detected six cases, Tamil Nadu detected four cases, and Telangana detected two cases of the variant.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the country stood at 4,170 as of Tuesday. The total death toll due to the virus has reached 533,337.
